Who We Are

Building African Resilience (BAR) is a non-governmental organization in Kenya working with communities affected by recurrent draught as a result of climate change particularly the pastoralist communities of Kajiado, Narok and Turkana and draught stricken counties or Makueni, Kitui and Machakos

The purpose of this organization is to facilitate effective response to the impact of climate change particularly the effects of recurrent draught on these communities in Kenya recognizing the place of women and girls and the special role they play as a result of effects of climate change and the need to deliberately alleviate this burden by empowering the entire community with knowledge and skills to respond effectively and to constructively participate in activities as well as facilitate knowledge sharing, learning collaboration and advocacy among members and global partners to amplify their voices and actions in shaping the mitigation, adaptation and resilience policies that are relevant to them.

Operations

We Operate In Five Counties in Kenya

About the Target Counties

The five counties have suffered effects of prolonged draught with devastating effects on human and animal life. It is for this reason that our organization seeks to work with these communities aiming at empowering them to effectively cope with the effects of climate change
